The Colfax Public Library maintains a webpage on the World Wide Web to provide general information, educational and recreational needs of the library’s service population.
Internet Links posted on the library webpage are chosen to broaden, enrich and provide credible information to the public.
The sites on the Library’s webpage are separate and independent from the Library. The Colfax Public Library Board exercises no control over the content of the information provided by the creator of those sites. Due to the immensity of the Internet, the Library webpage is far from complete in any subject, and on-going updates will continue on a monthly base. The presence or absence of a site is in no way a reflection of library policy. The linking of a site does not in any way indicate that the Colfax Public Library Board endorses, sponsors, or reviews the information provided by a particular site. The Library may deny requests for postings or linking due to time restrictions or work load.
Any information regarding an individual or business listing under the Community section of the webpage will be removed upon request from that individual or business. Any change or update of information regarding an individual or business will be made as time permits, though in a timely manner. Notification of such changes should occur in writing or email or both.
The sites will be evaluated by the Library Director according to their credibility, quality, and usefulness to the general public. Criteria which will be considered when evaluating Internet links:
· Access, no fees, very consistent
· Overall design – clean looking, clear text, good graphics & easy instructions
· Overall contents – accurate, verifiable, frequently updated, and authoritative
· Preferences – will be given to any educational, non-profit, government or state sites.
Meeting the criteria above will qualify an Internet link to be added to the Library’s webpage. All other Internet sites can be found by using a search engine, like Google.com for example.
Linked sites will be reviewed or monitored every 6 months for updates and credible information. If the site no longer qualifies under the criteria, the Library has the right to remove the link.
The Library Director is responsible for the over-all maintenance of the Colfax Public Library webpage, and the Children’s Librarian updates the area of Youth Services. Indianhead Federated Library System maintains the administrative privileges to the webpage design and the DotNetNuke web software.
